Hello, I am Mathilde, a naturalized American citizen from the "old country". I was born and raised in Bremen, Germany, grew up during the Hitler years, went through all kinds of adventures during the war and finally decided to leave my home country to visit my sister in the United States. How I survived the war, coming to the States, meeting my husband for over fifty years in California and now started writing, is described in my first book My Life on Two Continents.

This memoir is followed by a collection of fictional stories set in a frame story (like the Canterbury Tales): The Lake Dwellers, which will be coming out shortly.

I am residing now with my husband in Castro Valley, a small town in the huge Bay Area across the Bay from San Francisco and enjoy getting older, writing books, tending house and garden, and just living.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments about my books.
